Quentin Blake: About The Author

Quentin Blake is a well known author and has written many books. But do you know anything about the man himself?

Quentin Blake was born in 1932 and he has drawn ever since he can remember. His first drawing was published in a magazine for adults called 'Punch' when he was only 16. Later, he went to Downing College, Cambridge where he read English and after that he did a training course to teach at the University of London. This was followed by a part-time course at Chelsea Art School.

Quentin Blake has always made his living as an illustrator, having 'cartooned his way through college but has taught as a sideline, although "Teaching has never been a necessity... I just enjoy it."

For ten years he was head of the illustration Department at the Royal College of Art, and he is now a visiting tutor.

He did his first illustration for children in 1960 and has since illustrated many children's books in both the UK and the USA.

FACT 1 British author Roald Dahl wrote nineteen children's books including "James and the Giant Peach" in 1961 and "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" in 1964.

FACT 2 He also wrote movie scripts and several works of adult fiction.

FACT 3 Roald Dahl was born in Llandaff Wales, to Norwegian parents.

R.L Stine: About the Author

I bet you've read a lot of 'Goosebumps' and other books written by R. L. Stine but what do you know about him?

R. L. Stine is the author of more than two dozen thrillers for young readers. Recent titles include "Beach House" and "Hit and Run". He is also the author of two series: 'Fear Street' and 'Goosebumps.'

In addition to his publishing work, he is head writer of the TV show 'Eureka's Castle,' seen on Nickelodeon.

He lives in New York City with his wife, Jane, and their teenage son, Matt.
