The mucky bulding site

By Ryan, 11, Sheffield, UK

Cabins of all different colours form a rainbow.
Sand is as orange as the sunset.
The piles of mud tower over the school like giants.
Drills sound like machine guns shooting madly.
Concrete as hard as the sand on the desert.
Diggers digging deep as four graves.
The cranes look like ten giraffes.
Dumper trucks as fat and as big as the blue whale.
Wood piles 5 times as tail as me.
Crushers crushing rocks like eating food.
Gravel hitting the ground like crackling like wood on a fire.
Grinders grinding the rocks up like a mad dog munching on the fat white bone.

The building site

By Joseph, 10, Sheffield, UK

Diggers digging deeper and deeper like a rabbit in a burrow,
Mud slops down the portacabins like dog muck down the road,
The builders working as hard as they can like a horse pulling a carriage,
We look through the windows as the doors greet me,
The bricks break as the JCB crushes like a T-rex eating leaves,
The scaffolding stands like a cow eating grass,
The luminous jacket lights up like a bonfire on the night.

Building site fingers

By Della, 11, Sheffield, UK

The eyes of the gleaming and shiny windows.
The doors sucking people in like a gobbly mouth.
The chimmney blows out smoke like someone's nose.
The fingers of the back hole louder digging and digging
like creepy little fingers.
The crusher crushing everything like someone grinding there
teeth.

THE BULDING SITE IS ALIVE

By Abbie, 10, Sheffield, UK

The wheelbarrow leaves its mark just like a snail,
The outstretched vans look like a elephants belly.
In the building site the windows look like they are watching you,
The scaffoldings as tall as a giraffs neck,
The pipes are as thin as a piece of nail.

When I look at the school it looks like a baby tree growing higher and higher until finally it's grown,
As the camera gleams it makes the sun jealous with anger.
When I look at the portacabins they look like they are eating people just like a tiger eating up a zebra,
When I stand on a pebble it sounds like a dog squealing.

The Building Animals

By Jake and Connah, 10, Sheffield, UK

The J.C.B powers over all the others just like a lion odering the rest of the animals,
The gates acting like cages getting ready for hunters to trap wild animals.

Water tanks acting like ponds for elephants to drink out of,
The slimy pipes acting like snakes getting ready to catch their bait.

Bolts getting screwed in like a caterpillar eating through a leaf.

Exploring our new school

By Danny, 11, Sheffield, UK

As we walk into our new school
Down the long corridor to our new class room.
We will sit in our place
Looking out the window in a maze
So we said let's go and
We ran out the door
Then we saw pipes like lizards going through the little Holes as fast as a wizard
Then we hear the stones getting emptied out of the truck as slow as muck
it makes a sound like the tail of a rattle snake
then I saw a JCB eating a bun like a monkey.
I look to the left and see the cars that are as small as Ants behind bars.

THE ALIVE BUILDING SITE

By Kane, 11, Sheffield, UK

As I look at the razor sharp scaffolding shining like jewels,
long glass windows opening its glass eyes to see where you are,
nails like your own rigid and fine,
tape like zips fastening up,
breeze blocks bubbling like sherbet on your tongue,
fences like you are in jail wind blowing them down,
plastic like your bones, tough as can be,
bricks are like your hair, as still as can be,
JCBs hitting the school, demolishing it like a rhino,
diggers digging ferocious like a rabbit for its tea,
rubber bouncing enormously like a bouncy ball coming to me,
hearing the wind whistling like your mouth making noises.

The moving building site

By Daniel, 10, Sheffield, UK

The bricks are lying calm and silent,
The scaffolding looks like silver tree trunks,
The tractor digs like a dog digging for a bone,
The window stares at me in delight,
The pipes lay down like brown snakes,
The doors open like a car door,
The skip looks like a boot of a car,
The roof looks like a block of ice,
The little rocks looks like little eyeballs

New school

By Alexandar, 10, Sheffield, UK

The windows staring at the people coming in to its body,
Chimey breathing in the air of Sheffield.
The mouth of the door greeting people.
The children Happy leaning off the brain and the heart with a little gold of the children .
Scaffolding as the hair of a person .
And the ground of your feet with a smile on the headteachers's face.

The moving building site

By Abbie, 10, Sheffield, UK

The bricks are sleeping, calm and still,
The tractor digs like a dog digging up a bone.
The scaffolding shines like silver tree trunks in the sun,
The windows stare at me in delight.

I see a roller rolling mud like it is flattening a pancake,
In the morning the doors greet people as they come in.
The skip is guzzling up the delicious mud and bricks,
Pipes are shuffling up and down.
The roof of the school is calm and collected.

Building site monster

By Rachael and Ben, 10, Sheffield, UK

The fingers of the digger chucking mud bombs at buses the mouth of the door sucking people in like when you have your Sunday dinner.
The bricks are like your small tiny feet
the wood is like your long lanky legs
the windows are like your gold gleaming eyes you can see everything.
The chimney is like your nose blowing out air.
The grinder eats the bricks and crunches them and throws them into the mouth of the skip.
The cameras eyes watch the children as they go into school
the bricks and mortar holds up the school like the bones in your body.

Animal machines

By Connor and Jordan, 11, Sheffield, UK

As I look at the building site I see tape fastened as tight as my own shoe laces.
I see pipes flowing with water and as circular as the world, diggers as rigid as a brick wall.
As I see the building site I see a fence the size of a giant with the strength of dragon scales,
Grates wreeking like horse manure,
nails razored as shark teeth tarmac as uneven as the planet.
Breeze blocks as bubbly as an Aero bar,
rubber as soft and bouncy as a cricket.
Lights that glitter like a giant diamond,
cabins as firm as a man's fist
Cement as level as a broken brick,
Scaffolding sparkling like glitter on a diamond.
