Where Have all the Humans
Gone?
By Amber, 13
“Time to get up! Time
to get up! Time to get up!” chimed the alarm.
This racket had been going on since 6:00am this morning. The house was
deserted, yet the morning paper was projected neatly across the kitchen
wall, and breakfast was all ready and set neatly on the table. The children’s
clothes were spread neatly on the foot of their beds, a service graciously
provided by Zeton, the nanny, who even though was not the best model on
the market, still served the Carlson household ever since 2040.
The year is now 2064, and times have gotten worse. The human race has
become lazy, close minded, and not to mention more stubborn than ever
before. What would you expect from a generation that has robots, machines
and technology to wait on them hand and foot?
Although the people that live this life seem very content, but have also,
might I add become very fat, and not much smarter than a Xycon with more
than half its parts gone astray.
Zeton was busy with her daily work of programming the house to be ready
to serve the family throughout the day, when she realized that the family
was nowhere to be found. She at first thought nothing of it, and went
about her business, tossing scraps of torn up papers Gary, the mechanical
canine, had gotten a hold of, down into the decomposition chamber. The
house went on with its normal routine throughout the day, clearing the
breakfast dishes, which were never touched, only to fill the plates again
with lunch that would be served to a family that seemed to no longer exist.
By the time supper rolled around, Zeton became worried, and E-Zapped the
neighbors to ask them if they knew what was going on.
Something obviously was not right when Zeton was greeted by the neighbor’s
house-keeper, Toran, who was just as baffled as Zeton as to where all
the humans had gone to.
Zeton then turned on the news, only to hear the dreadful news she was
not willing to hear. “Due to the lack of physical, mental, and social
stamina of the human race, people have been disappearing off the face
of the earth. The over-usage of technology has finally taken its toll,
and the road ahead is not looking good. Scientist along with Historian
experts say that people have become too weak-minded to live on their own,
to understand the meaning of independence, and therefore, can and will
be removed from this earth. Only the strong will survive.”
