Nick Sharratt

Illustrator of The Cat Mummy (written by Jacqueline Wilson),

Nick Sharratt trained at Manchester Polytechnic and St Martin's School of Art where he graduated in graphic design. Since then he has illustrated children's books as well as producing humorous illustrations for magazines, including Playdays and Cosmopolitan. He enjoys the contrast of his work and "the variety of working for both children and adults"

Nick says "Food is definitely a favourite subject", a fact reflected in his popular picture books Don't Put Your Finger in the Jelly, Nelly and Ketchup on Your Cornflakes. My Mum and Dad Make Me Laugh was shortlisted for the 1995 Sheffield Children's Book Award and Don't Put Your Finger in the Jelly, Nelly won the 3-5 nonfiction category of the 1995 She/WH Smith Under Fives Book Prize. A Cheese and Tomato Spider was the overall winner fo the 1997 Sheffield Children's Book Prize

He has illustrated all Jacqueline Wilson's prizewinning children's novels as well as books written by Jeremy Strong including The Hundred-Mile-An-Hour Dog. Nick won the Sheffield Children's Book Award again in 1999 for The Time It Took Tom.
