Dark Day in the Deep Sea

By Angelica , 10, Sarasota, FL, USA

This book was both exciting and believable because I can imagine myself as one of the characters, Annie. The author uses very descriptive words that make you feel like you are a part of the story.

Jack and Annie are in the middle of a mystery set on a deserted island in the 1870's. They learn that just because an animal is big doesn't mean that it is bad because the octopus named Charles, is a scary monster to many people but he ends up saving their lives and when Jack and Annie learn that curiosity is one of the secrets to happiness it all makes sense in the end.

There are a lot of exciting pictures throughout the chapters that are drawn very with a lot of details and the cover gives a hint of what the book is about which makes you want to read it! It is written in a type that is easy to read, not too big or small.

I would give this book a 9.5 because even though it's fiction it is based on real facts and that makes it more exciting! Girls and boys of ages 7-9 who are interested in sea-life or adventure would really love this book.

The Suitcase Kid by Jacqueline Wilson

By Callum, 10, Tamworth, Staffs, UK

It is a good book because it is about a girl called Andy whose parents have split up and her mum and dad find other people to go out with. Andy has to stay at dad's one week and mom's another. She is a little babyish from when she was little because her mum and dad used to play baby stuff with her. I also liked it because how it was set out in the alphabet. And Radish, Andy pretends that Radish can talk. I liked it when Andy lost Radish, because she was walking around at night looking for her toy Radish and a stranger says,

'You shouldn't be out at midnight little girl, come with me.'

But Andy ran off to find Radish, her toy rabbit. That was the end of my review.

The Suitcase Kid By Jacqueline Wilson

By James, 10, Tamworth, Staffs, UK

'The Suitcase Kid' is about a girl called Andrea (in other words Andy) that sleeps one week at her mom's and the other week at her dad's. Andy isn't just the only child. Andy calls her step dad Bill the Baboon. And later on in the story there is another family that she visits.

And that's a quick story of 'The Suitcase Kid'. I would rate this book for a child age 5 to 8. The author makes this book interesting because its a natural crisis. I think the story is very good.

The Suitcase Kid by Jacqueline Wilson

By Oliver, 10, Tamworth, Staffs, UK

The book 'The Suitcase Kid' is about a girl called Andrea (Andy) whose parents have split up. Andy is living in and out of a suitcase, one week she is at mom's house and another week she is at dad's house. Andy's mom has got a husband who is called Bill (but Andy calls him Bill the Baboon) and three children called Paula, Graham and Katie. Andy's dad has got a wife called Carrie and her two twins are called Zen and Crystal, there is also another baby on the way.

So all that Andy has got left is her dream of mom and dad getting back together in Mulberry Cottage. And her Sylvanian toy rabbit called Radish. I would recommend this book to any one aged 5 - 14. I thought that the book was great.

The Suitcase Kid by Jacqueline Wilson

I thought the book was fantastic and boys or girls can read it and love it. The story is about a girl called Andrea (Andy) who used to live in a lovely cottage with a Mulberry tree, that's why it's called Mulberry Cottage. She doesn't live there any more because her parents split up.

Since then she has been living a nightmare, her only friend is a toy rabbit called Radish. Her dad lives with a women called Carrie and her two twins. Meanwhile, mom lives with a man called Bill with his three children. Andy lives at her mom's one week and her dad's the other week.

I think that it is a great book and everyone should read it.

The Suitcase Kid by Jacqueline Wilson

By Zizi, 11, Tamworth, Staffs, UK

This novel is about a girl called Andrea (Andy). She is a messed up child whose mum and dad have divorced. She loves them both and is always thinking about when they were a family in Mulberry Cottage. She carries around her toy mascot: Radish her Sylvanian rabbit. She spends one week at her mum's with her husband, Bill the Baboon and his three kids. Paula, Graham and mean little Katie. The next week at her dad's with his new wife, Carrie and her two kids. They are twins, Zen and Crystal. But dad and Carrie are having a new baby and Andy gets to name it! Andy has many problems at school, with her friends, Radish and many more.

The book made me feel lucky to have my mum and dad, they are there for me when I need them and understand me. I don't think it's like that for Andy though. It wasn't scary as in horror but it did make you feel sorry for Andy, as if she's lost. It was an entertaining story by Jacqueline Wilson. I didn't learn much more only that I know it isn't like this for most people. I wouldn't recommend it to a friend because I thought it wasn't my type of book; it was too short for me. I didn't enjoy the book as much as I could of partly because Andy was too obsessed with her old cottage. Somebody a couple of years younger than me would have enjoyed it more in my opinion.

The Suitcase Kid by Jacqueline Wilson

By Rosie and Ruby, 11, Tamworth, Staffs, UK

'The Suitcase Kid' is a brilliant book about a girl called Andrea, who does experience an emotional time as her mother and father have got divorced. We thought that the book was sad, happy, but also funny at times; a mixture of all different emotions.

The plot in this book is not straight forward, as Andrea feels like she lives from out of a suitcase. Life's dreadful with Bill the Baboon and Katie, as these two in particular constantly pick on her. However Paula and Graham are not too bad and keep themselves to themselves. Carrie and her two twins, Zen and Crystal are not too bad. Zen, who is 5 years of age, is a little, annoying child as he always annoys Andy.

The Suitcase Kid by Jacqueline Wilson

By Becky, 10, Tamworth, Staffs, UK

'The Suitcase Kid' is about a girl called Andy whose parents have split up. Because Andy's parents split up she has to put up with two new families. Andy has two new brothers and three new sisters. She also has another one on the way. Andy's youngest sister is called Crystal she isn't that bad but Andy hates her next youngest sister Katie, well Katie isn't the next sister, Andy is, but Katie is very small for her age because she is only half Andy's size and quite a bit older. Then there is Paula, Paula isn't that bad she can get quite angry with Andy for making her tights all soapy but she can be very kind.

Andy's brothers are called Zen and Graham, Zen is the youngest. Andy absolutely hates him, he always stomps on her with his big boots and jumps on her. Andy's dad now loves Carrie who is mother to Zen and Crystal and Andy's mother now loves Bill the Baboon who is father to Katie, Graham and Paula.

I thought the story was absolutely excellent and Jacqueline Wilson is a fantastic writer. She made me think about all the people that have to go through that and the things that happen like parents saying you want to come and live with me don't you and I just really enjoyed the book.

The Suitcase Kid by Jacqueline Wilson

By Ben, 10, Tamworth, Staffs, UK

It all started when a girl named Andy had a very emotional time when her mum and dad split up and got divorced. Then her Dad got another girlfriend called Carrie and they both had a baby together, they named it Zoe. Andy found out about her new brothers and sisters; Graham, Paula, Katie, Crystal and Zen and is always thinking about her old home Mulberry Cottage and she wants to go and live there with her mum and dad without the rest of the brothers and sisters. Andy would not like to lose Radish, her toy rabbit, as it is very important to her.

I thought the book itself was extremely excellent. It made me want to read it all in one whole day without no stop. There was some funny bits and some outstanding bits in 'The Suitcase Kid' story. There were no scary bits in it at all. It would be good if she could bring another book out like it, but a bit different and none of the same characters in 'The Suitcase Kid'. I would like to read it again on my own this time. I thought it was sad because her mom and dad split up.

The Suitcase Kid by Jacqueline Wilson

By Bailey and Josh, 10, Tamworth, Staffs, UK

'The Suitcase Kid' is about a girl called Andrea (Andy) who is tall and sensitive about her weight. She and her Mom and Dad and Radish lived in Mulberry Cottage together, then her Mom and Dad got divorced. Radish is a white Sylvanian rabbit which Andy loves.

Mom gets married to Bill. Bill has three children Katie, Graham and Paula. Dad gets a girlfriend called Carrie. Carrie has two children Zen and Crystal. Andy doesn't like Katie and Zen but she gets along with Crystal, Graham and Paula. Andy goes to Mom's one week and Dad's the next. Dad lives in a flat and Mom lives in a house. Andy has problems at school and many, many more problems.

The book made me feel lucky that my mom and dad live together. The story made me think of children with divorced parents. My favourite part was when she met the Peters because they build her a house.

I would recommend this to a girl aged 7 to 17. I wouldn't read another book by Jacqueline Wilson because I prefer sport or adventure books. I didn't like the book because I don't think the plot was good.

The Suitcase Kid by Jacqueline Wilson

This book is about a 10 year old girl called Andrea. Andrea used to live with her parents in Mullberry Cottage. Unfortunately her mum and dad got split up and live in separate houses. Mum is married to Bill, Bill has three kids, the oldest is Paula, she is 14 and then it's Graham who is 12 and last is Katie who is the same age as Andrea but Katie is really mean to Andy. On the other hand dad has a girlfriend called Carrie. Carrie has got twins Zen and Crystal and Carrie's about to have another baby.

One week Andy goes to mum's house and the next week she goes to dad's. Andy keeps a toy Sylvanian rabbit in her pocket called Radish. Radish is Andy's only person she's got to talk to all the time.

I really enjoyed this book because it was sad, then it was happy and it's a great book. I recommend this book for children aged 7 and over.

The Suitcase Kid by Jacqueline Wilson

By Sarah, 10, Tamworth, Staffs, UK

This book is about a 10 year old girl named Andy who has a little Sylvanian rabbit caled Radish (her lucky mascot who lives in her pocket). Her parents get a divorce and Andy is very upset about it. Both parents have new partners now and they both have children of there own. (Andy doesn't like Katie or Zen very much but she thinks Paula, Graham and Crystal are alright though)Andy also hates Bill the Baboon (Mum's new partner).

One day Andy finds a dream garden in Larkspur Lane near her school and goes there every day after school and one day she drops her rabbit Radish down a tree in the garden and then someone comes out of the door of the house that Andy thought was abandoned and makes a run for it. Will she ever get her rabbit Radish back?

Andy used to go to school and had a best friend and her life was perfect but ever since her parents divorced her life has been turned the other way round.

I think this is a sad, scary and exciting story with a happy ending.

The Suitcase Kid by Jacqueline Wilson

By Reece , 11, Tamworth, Staffs, UK

This story is called 'The Suitcase Kid' and it is written by Jacqueline Wilson. It is about Andy, a ten year old girl (her real name is Andrea),and both of her parents are split up and she stays with mom one week and her dad's the next week. She wishes they could live back together in Mulberry Cottage. Now, she needs to share her mom and dad with so many children. Andy has a little toy Sylvanian rabbit called Radish, who she keeps in her pocket and talks to it when she is sad and lonely.

Will Andy ever be happy again with mum and dad?

I think that this story is mainly for girls any age. My favourite part of the book was when Graham gave Andy a boat he had made for Radish. Overall I think it is a family good book and it is quite interesting and fun to read. I would not read another book by this author Jacqueline Wilson because I think she is more of a girls author.

The Suitcase Kid by Jacqueline Wilson

By Emily and Elle, 11, Tamworth, Staffs, UK

The one thing I learnt in this book is how lucky I am to have my parents still together. Andy has to cope with a lot. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone, as I feel it is suitable for all ages and both genders.

It is about a girl called Andy whose parents are divorced. Andy is forced to go from her Mum's house who has a new husband and who has three kids of his own or her Dad who lives with his new girlfriend who has two kids and is expecting a baby. Andy just wants to live with both her Mum and Dad at Mulberry Cottage. Their old house where they lived was a happy family but Andy and her Sylvanian toy rabbit have to go from one house to the other.

We think this book should be read by anyone who has split up parents because they would learn how to control their emotions. We think this book is made for children who have split up parents and we think they would really get something out of the book.

It is easy to follow and a brilliant text by award winning author Jacqueline Wilson. I really enjoyed the book and the genre of the story.

The Suitcase Kid by Jacqueline Wilson

By Alex, 10, Tamworth, Staffs, UK

The book was written by Jacqueline Wilson and it is very good. The chapters are in letters so there are 26 chapters in the book. The book is about a girl called Andy whose mom and dad have split up. So they go to a family councillor and decide that one week she has to go to one house and the other the next. She has new families and she doesn't like to keep moving from each house each week. Radish is her pet Sylvanian Rabbit and she treats her like a proper real life pet. She also meets two old people and she shares their garden with them.

I enjoyed the book because it was interesting and funny. I would recommend it to anyone else between the ages of 6-17.

'The Suitcase Kid' is a brilliant book. It is about a young girl called Andy that has parents that have split up, and she is having the worst time ever with her new brothers and sisters. Her new step dad has three children: Paula is the oldest at 14 and she likes to listen to loud music, Then there is Graham, Graham is a computer nerd who is always in his bedroom, Andy does get on with him eventually. Then there is Katie, Katie is the same age as Andy, except much smaller, she is a very naughty girl and is always calling Andy names.

The Suitcase Kid by Jacqueline Wilson

By Lauren, 11, Tamworth, Staffs, UK

This story is about a ten year old girl who is tall for her age. Her mom and dad split up and she had to move from Mulberry Cottage. Andy dreams of being in Mulberry Cottage with her mom and dad. Andy's mom and dad now have families of their own. Radish is Andy's toy a Sylvanian rabbit, who lives in her pocket. She likes to talk to Radish because she gets very lonely.

I think this book is very good because it is interesting and it makes you want to read on. I would recommend this book to all ages. I would also recommend this book to a friend because it shows you how lucky you are to have a mom and dad that live together with you.

There are quite a lot of funny parts and not a lot of scary parts. My favourite part of the book was when Andy went to the councillor and Andy just ignored her. I found that funny. I also like the part where Graham made a boat especially for Radish, I found that very thoughtful.

I would probably read another a book from this author. I give credit to Jacqueline Wilson.

Will Andy be happy with her mom and dad?

Will she ever live in Mulberry Cottage again?

'The Suitcase Kid' is about a girl that has parents that have just got divorced and they don't know what to do with Andy. Having two nightmare families it makes things difficult for Andy. With her new step Dad, Bill The Baboon, and her new step Mum, Carrie.

I didn't think that the book was that good because if the story was real than it wouldn't be any of our buisness, because all divorces are private. I wouldn't recommend 'The Suitcase Kid' to many people because I didn't see the whole point in what the story was about. I would rate it 2/10.
